What happened to Allu Arjun?

On 13th December, 2024, Actor Allu Arjun was arrested by the city police and taken into custody at the Chanchalguda Central Prison where he spent one night after being offered interim bail on 14th December.

But what was this tragic accident that shook the entire nation? In a devastating turn of events, a stampede outside Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad resulted in the untimely death of a 39-year-old woman, Revathi. Her young son, Sri Teja, aged 8, was critically injured in the incident. It is here that the actor had been paying a surprise visit when the incident took place.

With charges filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and negligence; the police stressed on the fact that they were not informed prior to the event about the actor’s visit, resulting in inadequate measures and crowd control.

A video captured by the media shows the actor enjoying a cup of coffee and sharing a tender farewell kiss with his wife before willingly cooperating with the police investigation. Commentors have criticised the move, saying had he been any commoner implicated in a case, he would not have had the luxury of engaging in these mundane activities.

Yet, the tragic incident underscores the need for stringent safety measures and responsible crowd management by local authorities, as solely blaming the actor for the unforeseen circumstances would be unjust.

According to latest reports, Allu Arjun has expressed his deepest sympathies to Revathi’s family and pledged substantial support. This includes a Rs 25 lakh compensation and full coverage of medical expenses for her injured son, Sri Teja.

In his words,” We are extremely sorry for the family, it is purely accidental. I was inside the theatre watching the film with my family and the incident took place outside the theatre, It was purely of no direct connection to me. My love and respect to the family. I have been visiting the theatre for the last few years, I have been to the same place almost 30 times. Never has such a thing happened. It was purely accidental. I am extremely sorry for the accident that happened.”
