An event that remains true to its founding vision, where there are no headliners or hierarchies, only a shared commitment to growing the movement together. Karupp Cypher is a cultural initiative from Karupp Records, spearheaded by Vedan, created to celebrate and strengthen the independent creative community across hip-hop and its associated art forms. From beat producers and rappers to dancers, the event is a platform for emerging and established talents come together to collaborate, create, and push the boundaries of local culture.
Building on the success of its debut edition, which drew over 500 attendees, the second edition of Karupp Cypher, which was held on November 16, 2025, in Kochi, returned with larger scale, participation, and a focus on cultural impact marked a significant step forward in the South side hip-hop movement. With an attendance of nearly 600+ people, this edition reaffirmed that the region’s hip-hop community.
Multilingual expression continued to define the evening, with performers moving between Malayalam, Tamil, English, and hybrid dialects. This reflected the cultural plurality that remains central to the Cypher’s identity and the wider community that supports it. Notable names like Vedan, HRISHI, Hatsmyth, and Dasziii took over the stage, alongside many talented artists who stepped into the no-lineup event, performing for the audience on the spot.

Hrithwik Sasikumar, Creative Director and Co-founder at Karupp Records, shares:
Our motto ‘, Together We Stand, Divided We Fall’, defines the soul of the Cypher. It’s about bringing the community together and growing stronger with every edition. Last year’s response exceeded expectations, and this year, we’re looking to expand the scale, impact, and experience, showcasing the rise of independent hip-hop artists from across the region.”
Despite the increase in scale, the core ethos of the Cypher remained intact. Guided by their motto, Together We Stand, Divided We Fall, the event preserved its open, democratic circle where every participant and performers, including rappers, producers, dancers, entered with equal footing. There were no headliners, no hierarchy, and no stage barriers separating the creators from the audience. The culture lived in the centre of the circle, just as it did in their first edition.
Above all, this year demonstrated that a community-led cultural movement can scale responsibly. Growing attendance, higher production quality, and increased visibility did not compromise the spirit of unity that anchors Karupp Cypher.
