Widely recognized in the South-side for his profound lyrics and the strong narratives woven into each track, ThirumaLi is a familiar name to many. Influenced by artists like Eminem and Michael Jackson from a young age, ThirumaLi discovered his passion for rap and began making music in 2013.
ThirumaLi played a significant role in introducing Malayalam hip-hop culture to the region with his debut hit, “Malayali Da,“ which is often credited with marking the onset of the mainstream Malayalam rap movement. His successful discography now includes a string of popular singles such as “Pacha Parishkari,” “Sambar,” and “Ayyayyo.”
Known primarily for his sharp, witty, and socially conscious tracks, ThirumaLi ventured out of his comfort zone with his latest release, the romantic freestyle hip-hop/R&B track “Kulasthree.” While he admits to being a fan of love songs, he often doubted whether his voice was suited to the genre.

Yet, “Kulasthree” became an opportunity for ThirumaLi to explore melody in his own unique way. The result is a rare and striking sound: a beautiful fusion of South Indian musical influences and Western R&B, noted for its emotional depth.
Interestingly, the track was created nearly four years ago by ThirumaLi and producer Thudwiser. At the time, they believed its melodic rap and slow-paced rhythm wouldn’t resonate with listeners, as it deviated from the usual high-energy hip-hop sound. However, with changing tastes and a more open audience, ThirumaLi felt it was finally the right moment to release the song, confident that it would find its true listeners.
When ThirumaLi first heard the beat, the words “I’m in love with a Kulasthree” came to him naturally, a spontaneous freestyle that set the tone for what would become a romantic and soulful track. From the very beginning, Kulasthree carried a tender, emotional vibe, capturing the essence of pure soulful and almost divine affection toward a woman. Rooted in the imagination and fantasy of ThirumaLi, Kulasthree paints a picture of love.
What ThirumaLi doubted the most, became the opposite: “Kulasthree” is now a fan favorite and a viral trend.
The music video has crossed over a million streams and the song has ranked No. 1 on the Kerala Spotify Charts. The trend has exploded on Instagram, with tens of thousands of reels created by users and celebrities alike, often featuring beautiful transition videos of them transforming into or embodying the look of a ‘Kulasthree.’
